Local Projects:

The Zonta Club of Christchurch-Canterbury will be raising funds for the Canterbury Charity Hospital laparoscopic tubal ligation clinic. This will enable them to increase their equipment which will lead to more women being able to access these important services.

Our Service Charity is the Christchurch Kidney Society – we make special comfortable peritoneal catheter belts for the patients to wear, supply rugs to keep patients cosy and delicious treats once a week.

District 16 Project:

We are pleased to announce that Foster Hope Charitable Trust has been selected as the Zonta District 16 Project for 2024-2026 Biennium.

Their purpose and Mission:

Foster Hope Charitable Trust believes that every child in care deserves to know that their community cares about them.

They demonstrate this by providing them with a backpack of essential items, they are a symbol of our support and love for both the children and their caregivers throughout New Zealand.

Many of these children arrive at their new placements with little more than the clothes on their backs.  The backpacks bring a little hope into what is a very stressful time in their life.

International projects

The Zonta Club of Christchurch -Canterbury supports the International Projects of Zonta International. During the 2022-2024 Biennium, four projects are being supported:

Creating opportunities for girls to realize their rights to education in Madagascar

Adolescent girls’ health and protection in Peru

Strengthening response to gender-based violence survivors in Papua New Guinea and Timor-Leste

Ending child marriage – a programme to accelerate global action
