International Women’s Day and Zonta Rose Day are recognised in countries around the world. It is a day when women are acknowledged for their achievements.

The Zonta Club of Christchurch-Canterbury invites you to come along and hear from a panel of inspiring women speaking on the theme of:

“DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality”

Here are our line up of speakers:

Elle has been involved in Iwi, Business, Industry, Government, and Community development for 27yrs. With a background in Science, Geospatial Technology, Education, Infrastructure, and Emergency Management – Elle now finds herself in varying leadership positions across the region, nationally, and globally. Her kaupapa is centred around collective leadership, progressive governance, digital equity, inclusion in action, integrated ecosystems, strategic foresight, and tactical application.

Elle holds multiple directorships and governance roles including the Chair of Te Matarau – The Māori Tech Association; Chair of the Waitaha Digital Equity Joint Committee; Chair of the Selwyn District Local Welfare Committee. She is a Director on the board of Network 4 Learning, Archland Investments; and Learning City Christchurch – Āko Ōtautahi, amongst others. She is currently undertaking a PhD at the University of Canterbury exploring impact-led governance.

Kendal flutey

Kendall Flutey has led the Banqer team from its conception in 2014, through idea phases, and eventually, two products that have been used by over 300,000 students in primary, intermediate and secondary schools across Australasia.With a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Otago, Kendall has also completed a Master’s in Entrepreneurship, and is currently a member of the Digital Council for Aotearoa New Zealand and a board member of the Financial Markets Authority (FMA). Her efforts to improve mental wellbeing and fiscal education were nationally recognised in 2019 when she won the prestigious Young New Zealander of the Year Award in 2019. Banqer also won the Hi-Tech Start-up Company of the Year Award in 2018.

Dr Cheryl Doig is a leadership futurist with a passion for supporting leaders and organisations to think differently in order to adapt to a rapidly changing and complex world. Cheryl is an accredited member of the Association of Professional Futurists and her business, Think Beyond, focuses on leadership at the edges. In 2017 Cheryl was a finalist in the Westpac Women of Influence Awards, Innovation and Science category.

Cheryl serves on a number of trusts and is involved in a range of collaborative projects including Grow Waitaha, the Future of Learning and Learning City Christchurch, Ako Ōtautahi. 

Jenny Clarke, a multifaceted individual, recently concluded a distinguished career as a physicist, educator, sportswoman, and gardener. Her academic journey, beginning at Aranui High School and culminating with a doctorate in theoretical elementary particle physics from Oxford University, was marked by a Commonwealth Scholarship in 1995. Jenny’s contributions extend beyond academia, as she served as a research physicist at Manchester University and played a pivotal role in New Zealand’s engagement with the Large Hadron Collider project in Geneva. Notably, her passion for teaching led her to transition into sport science at the University of Canterbury, where she spearheaded the Sport Coaching degree program. Simultaneously, Jenny excelled in sports, achieving success in women’s county cricket and attaining multiple championships and world titles in croquet. Her dedication to teaching and mentoring extends beyond physics, reflecting a lifelong commitment to empowering others in various domains.
