Members of Zonta Clubs support women and girls in their local communities, run projects in many parts of the world that address some of the most pressing needs facing women, and advocate on women issues at all levels of society. Zonta International has a long and well respected history of partnership in conjunction with the United Nations agencies, and maintains consultative status on women issues with the UN, and Council of Europe.

In New Zealand, Zonta has been active for 50 years, and has 27 clubs from Northland, to Otago. We combine service and advocacy, with fun and fellowship. We welcome membership enquiries from women wishing to join us in this important work. Contact us for more information. Email: christchurch-canterbury@zonta.org.nz

Our Club

Our Club meets the first Monday of every month, except for January and public holidays.

We meet in the Mister Ridley Room at Rydges in Latimer Square, at 5.30pm for 6pm start.

A meal is provided which is at the cost of each member.

There is often a guest speaker.

We have 40 members. (Feb 2023)

When you join Zonta you entrust to become a committed and involved member. You will immediately be assigned to one of five committees where your skills will be invaluable to its current projects. These committees are Advocacy, Service, Fundraising, Membership and Z Club – each of which has their own responsibilities and which meets once a month.

Around a dozen members also form the Club’s board and all members are expected to eventually serve on the board and if requested, take up key positions.

The annual subscription is $225.00 .

Conventions and Conferences:
Every two years there is an International Convention somewhere in the world, and in the years in between, each country – or “District” to give the Zonta term – holds a national conference.

Charitable Organisations:
Go to our History page to see some of the charities and organisations we have worked with over the years.
